MANAGEMENT ET GESTION DES ENTREPRISES - ECONOMISTE D'ENTREPRISE (I.U.P. - DEUG - LICENCE - MAITRISE) CORPORATE ECONOMIST
Responsable / Under the responsability of:  Mme Cécile Hagnauer
Objectifs / Objectifs :

·         The students acquire general knowledge in economy, management and law, opening the way to a variety of Masters and numerous professions ;
·         Supervision is ensured, on the one hand, by the teachers-researchers of the Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis, most of which are members of the research laboratories found on the site of Sophia-Antipolis.
·         By the side of the university teachers, professionals from the public and private sectors participate in the training and the presentation of diplomas;
·         Throughout the degree course, the students follow compulsory internships in firms;
·         Two foreign living languages are taught (English for the first and Italian, German or Spanish for the second).
·         Travelling abroad for an internship or to participate in international exchange programmes is encouraged ;
·         The students learn how to master computer tools and the TIC.

The first year (DEUG) is dedicated to the acquisition of the basics in economy, management and economic law, as well as in quantitative techniques, accounting, computer technology and living languages.

The second year (Licence) and the third year (Maîtrise/Master1) offers theoretical and professionalised  training in economy, corporate finance, market finance, management, TIC, languages and economic law.

The students who have done well throughout the degree course and the internships will have passed a certain number of criteria defined by the IUP, and will then be able to apply for the title of  Master Engineer.

A large number of students may then continue their studies in a Master 2 Professionalisé or in a Master 2 Recherche (statistics of the IUP MGE site http:// www.unice.fr/iup).

Examples of Master integrated by the students who have come from the IUP in 2004 :
·         Master Banque et Finance Internationale
·         Master en ingénierie financière
·         Master en Génie du Développement Industriel
·         Master en Management et Conseil en Systèmes d'Information
·         Etc.

Conditions d'admission / Admission conditions:

In initial training , the admission to the IUP MGE is made after selection of applications and interviews.

·         The first year of the IUP is open to students who have successfully passed the first year of the Licence Sciences Economiques or the AES, as well as the IUT diploma holders (in management, commerce, accounting, statistics, organisation of production, etc.), to holders of a BTS (international commerce, accounting, insurance, etc.), of a DECF, and to students of the 'Classees Préparatoires aux Grandes Ecoles' scientific or commercial.

They must have successfully passed the Baccalaureate or the validation of professional assets. At the level of the 3rd year, professionals who have at least three years of experience, the BAC+2, BTS, DUT level or validation of professional assets.

Débouchés / Openings:

The last survey undertaken with former students (in 2002) from the Corporate Economy path of the IUP MGE indicates than the three quarters of the people questioned work in the private sector, frequently as independent executives.

The activity sectors of the firms they are employed in are extremely varied. The financial domain, banks and insurance companies, on the one hand, and the NTIC management, on the other, seem to be however, the two main openings. More than 45% of the people questioned work in firms that have more than 300 employees. More than 35% are employed in the 'département' of the Alpes Maritimes, while the second labour market area is the Paris region with more than 20% of the people questioned. Nearly 6% work abroad and 9% in Monaco (total statistics on the IUP MGE site : http://www.unice.fr/iup).
