Génie Electrique et Informatique Industrielle

The Department of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Computing offers high level training across a wide field : Electronics, telecommunications, energy production and transformation, process automation, robotics, computing, digital systems, local networks, real-time systems.

Having acquired a wide range of skills over the 2 year course and achieved a high level of scientific and technical knowledge, once they have obtained the DUT, students can either choose to pursue a professional career or to continue their studies.

The Vocational Degree in Electricity and Electronics aims to offer the student a vast range of project management skills covering the aforementioned areas.

Réseaux et Télécommunications

The Department of Networks and Telecommunications is based at our Sophia-Antipolis campus in the heart of 'Telecom Valley', close to the firms we work in partnership with, Engineering Schools and research laboratories. It offers students courses which address the world of Networks and Telecommunications.
To be able to choose, install and administer all the types of equipment used in cabled or wireless networks and to understand everything associated with these networks requires skills from many different fields, these skills will be acquired during the course.

The Vocational Degree in Networks and Telecommunications jointly run by the Departments of Electrical Engineering and Industrial Computing and Networks and Telecommunications aims to supply the growing need for technical skills for the new technologies used in communication and information highways: communicating systems, embedded systems, network and telecommunications equipment, administration and security.
In order to offer the best training possible and to satisfy stringent professional requirements, The Professional Degree in Networks and Telecommunications has been awarded ISO 9001 (V2000) quality certification.

Informatique

The Department of Computer Science trains its students so that they are able to conceive, design and implement computing systems. To take on such responsibilities not only must they have sound technological skills, but they must also be able to apprehend the social-economics of the area , have a good all round education and possess excellent communication skills.

Therefore the teaching :
- covers fundamentals, so that students may acquire, basic concepts and relevant working methods,
- is application-orientated, so that concepts can be learnt more easily and professional expertise shared,
- is progressive, so that technological progress is combined with the demands of the professional world,
- is communication-orientated, so that relevant skills are developed.

The Vocational Degree in Systems and Decision Support Computing, is jointly run by 3 computer science departments within the University of Nice Sophia Antipolis: Faculty of Science (UFR Sciences), Ecole Polytechnique Universitaire and the Department of Computer Science at the Institut Universitaire de Technologie. It trains students in the main skills they will need to work as 'computing system developers' through courses forming part of a core curriculum, then though more specialized courses offering specialist options in the ever-developping fields of Information and Communication Science and Technology (ICST).

Qualité, Logistique Industrielle et Organisation

The Department of Quality Management, Industrial Logistics and Organization offers its students very advanced skills in the fields of Logistics and Quality Management whilst at the same time offering them a solid non specialist base of knowledge to help them in their future careers.

We prepare students for careers as Logisticians and Quality specialists equipping them for a wide range of positions: Supply planning; Retail and stock management; Integrated management (Quality, Environment, and Safety (ISO 9001, 14001, etc.); Organization of the manufacturing process; Supply chain management; Metrology and quality control; Enterprise resource planning, etc.

Once qualified with The Vocational Degree in industrial production management students should be able :
to handle all concepts covering production management,
- to manage computing systems (SCM, ERP, GPAO, ..),
- to design and develop adjuncts to production IT systems, (data bases, web sites, ...),
- to analyze and optimize production systems,
- to co-ordinate a global supply chain,
- to implement quality management systems,
- to set up and run a quality control system.

Statistique et Traitement Informatique des Données

The Department of Statistics and Data Processing offers courses with a well-established technological base, the aim being to offer professional career openings as well as the possibility of further studies for those students who wish to continue. On graduation, students can work in the field of information processing and statistical analysis.

The Vocational Degree in Statistics and Decision Support Computing, trains managers who can contribute their expertise at every step in the decision making process, based on statistical processing of huge quantities of data.

Students learn :
- to design and implement data bases specially adapted to their company's needs
- to manage statistical data to support management decisions
- to provide market research input, by making best use of modern methods of disseminating information, in particular those connected to the Internet
- to use standard business IT tools to their full advantage.

Gestion des Entreprises et des Administrations

The Department of Business and Public Sector Management produces graduates who are likely to hold administrative and financial posts within the business or the public sector. In the second year, so that they can develop more specialized professional skills, students can choose from three different options :

- Small and Medium sized Organizations
- Human Resources
- Accountancy - Finance

The Vocational Degree in Health and Social Services Management offers a specialized course for management of health and social services organizations. The course aims to set standards for professional competency which can be put to immediate use; teaching is based on applied management and law and in subjects that relate to health and social services.
On completion of the course, students will be able to deal with accountancy, legal, computing and financial problems.

The Vocational Degree - Chartered Accountancy Technician, offers training in financial and accountancy management. The course trains accounting technicians who carry out tasks with full responsibility under the supervision of a qualified chartered accountant and acquire all the skills required of a middle manager.
Endorsed by the French Association of Chartered Accountants, who helped set up this programme, this course enables graduates to take up a position within a chartered accountancy firm.

Techniques de Commercialisation de Nice

The Department of Marketing Techniques and Business Studies, in Nice, places great emphasis on techniques for communication and expression by working in small groups and using the latest generation of teaching tools. Students must have two modern languages, English and then either Spanish, Italian or German.

This course has two main priorities: firstly to provide students with an in-depth knowledge of marketing techniques so that they can put theoretical knowledge into practice when working in business, and secondly to prepare them so that they can quickly take on responsibility, in particular with regard to their work placement in a company or within different organizations, and their supervised live project.

The Vocational Degree in Banking, Insurance and Finance, provides training for managers / advisers who will work with 'individual' clients and who will have to be able to perform a wide range of tasks and keep up with the latest trends.

This course is taught jointly by the Department of Marketing Techniques in Nice, the Business Administration Institute (Institute d'Administration d'Entreprises) (I.A.E) in Nice, and the Faculty of Law, Economics and Management.

Techniques de commercialisation - tourisme - de Cannes

The Department of Marketing and Tourism, in Cannes, prepares students for a commercial career in all types of business but in particular those connected with tourism. What is special about this particular course is that it is both generally business-orientated and vocational. On the one hand it is unique because it lays great emphasis on knowledge, acquisition of a broad general culture, writing and communication skills; on the other hand it is also business orientated, as it offers in-depth knowledge of marketing and negotiating techniques; and finally it is vocational because its is delivered by professionals working in the industry.

The Vocational Degree in Marketing and Management for Information and Communication Technologies aims to train executives to perform a variety of functions, so they can manage and be responsible for projects for tourist venues and events. This degree course is based around two main areas where the aim is to give all students the skills they need, even if they come from different backgrounds and have a range of different qualifications. The first area provides them with a solid knowledge of tourism as a business sector. The second main area is about putting into practice tourism management and engineering.

Information et Communication

The Department of Information and Public Relations - Public relations for organizations option - is responsible for training specialists for in-house, external and global public relations positions. Graduates go on to hold positions with manufacturing or services companies, with local authorities or even with PR companies.

Over two years the course aims to impart all the knowledge and expertise students require to be ready to work in this area as professionals.

At the end of the course, students will be able to work in events management, corporate sponsorship and fund raising; they can work on company publications: company magazines and newsletters, company brochures and marketing material; on video and multimedia projects and also on auditing a company's communication strategies.

The Department of Information and Public Relations - Journalism option - this course trains students to work as journalists.

The course lays particular emphasis on practical teaching (6 weeks of workshops from the first year - newspapers, radio, television), on acquiring general theory (law, information and communication sciences), on specialist journalistic training (code of practice, sociology of the profession) as well as learning about image, sound, the written word and communication and information technology.

The Vocational Degree 'Editing and Reporting' aims to train students in teh techniques for journalistics investigation, TV programe and documentary production and video editing.
